Caldera is a Mexican-inspired spot in Hackney that we could definitely nap in. It draws you in for “just a few to pick at” totopos with well-seasoned guacamole, but keeps you ordering with corn kernels with chipotle aioli, and before you know it you’re wrist deep in a bowl of nachos. And these are really good nachos. Well-salted tortilla chips, fresh guacamole with the right chunk-to-smooth ratio, and an abundance of green toppings like spring onion, large jalapeños, and coriander. This is just a really pleasant spot in which to lounge, nestled between rows of empty chipotle pepper cans and propped up on calavera-print cushions. Then you can weigh up your post-nachos options—namely, crispy pork belly tacos and sea bass ceviche.

The Haggerston branch of Chick ‘n’ Sours is the original, and still the best. Come here for cocktails and disco wings, and leave happy.
