Bokan feels like a chilled bar you’d be very happy to stumble on in town, except that it’s 37 floors up a skyscraper in the Docklands. The views are absolutely gobsmacking, and given the lofty location, prices for drinks are actually totally decent. It gets busy with the local after-work crowd after 5pm as well as a few strays who’ve come for the views, so book a table ahead if you want to nab a window seat. The outdoor terrace is as good as it looks come summer, and there’s also a full restaurant a floor below (helpfully, with quieter noise levels) if you want a splurge.

Two Lights is the Shoreditch restaurant an algorithm might design. It doesn’t quite add up, but, if you use it in the right way, it’s a good bet.
Roganic in Marylebone is a ‘let me take a moment to explain the menu’ kind of place featuring foraged ingredients. That said, it’s really very good.
