Atari-Ya is a fish wholesaler that made a name for itself by supplying many of London’s best-known Japanese restaurants, as well as Tesco. Just kidding, they don’t really supply Tesco. Their sushi bar on always-crowded James Street doesn’t look promising from the outside, but the quality of the fish here is actually pretty good. You can get a nigiri, sashimi, or maki set that would cost you way more at one of the more expensive restaurants, and while the interior’s not much more than a few small tables that you won’t want to linger at, it’s a good call for takeout or a quick sushi fix. It gets jammed at lunchtimes, though, so if you’re going that route, call ahead and arrange to pick it up.
