Amazing Grace

When you walk into Amazing Grace, you look up. This converted church—that also spent some time being a site for live surgery lessons, but let’s not dwell on that stunning portion of its history—is really quite something. Blues on the speakers, a mezzanine overlooking the candlelit stage where the live music happens in the evening, and lots of tasteful green leather seats. Also, importantly, Mr Bao is doing the food here. If you haven’t been to their Peckham location or their Daddy Bao spot in Tooting, then all you need to know is that you should stick to the headliners, and that’s the shiitake mushroom bao. Expect nice cocktails, pints, and big boozy ‘gospel brunches’ at the weekend.
