Jamavar is a Michelin-starred spot in Mayfair with some excellent versions of Indian classics that outweigh a kind-of-boring atmosphere.
The George
The George is a classy central London pub. It combines a boozy downstairs with a decadent dining room upstairs that serves delicious and faultless British classics at a not insignificant price.
Rai
A serious and seriously expensive Japanese restaurant in Fitzrovia, Rai is all about theatrical omakase and slick service.
Bar des Prés
A pricey restaurant and bar in Mayfair serving a mix of Japanese and French influenced dishes in a dimly-lit room.
Mere
Mere functions on absolute precision. It might not leave much room for laughs, but the food at this Fitzrovia spot is worth getting organised for.
Trishna
Trishna is an excellent posh yet casual Indian restaurant in Marylebone, where casual is relative and a good credit line is required for the meal.

At Hunan, a Chinese restaurant in Victoria, you don’t choose the menu - the menu chooses you. Their ‘trust me’ tasting menu is a classic.
Imperial Treasure
Imperial Treasure is a big, fancy Chinese restaurant in St James’s which lacks atmosphere, but serves some pretty great dim sum.

Old, full of red velvet, and with a taste for custard, Rules is a high-priced, novelty-feeling British restaurant in Covent Garden.
The Guinea Grill
The Guinea Grill is a tiny pub in Mayfair with an old school restaurant specialising in excellent steaks.

Kitty Fisher’s
Kitty Fisher’s is a great restaurant in Mayfair serving hedonistic plates of simple, rich, and delicious British food.
Hutong
Hutong is the Shard’s ultra-swish Chinese restaurant, and if we were going to throw down on a pricey dinner with a view, this would be on our list.
Cornerstone
Cornerstone is a classy but casual seafood restaurant in Hackney Wick. It’s a place that’s worth shelling out for, if only once.
Bob Bob Ricard City
Bob Bob Ricard City is a ridiculously over the top, luxury brasserie where you’re set for great French food and a bloody good time.
A. Wong
A. Wong is a Chinese restaurant in Victoria with a reputation for world-beating Chinese food that, while good, doesn’t quite live up to the hype.
