23rd July, 2020
We’ve lost count of the number of times we’ve left The Scolt Head not knowing how to count, only to return to the De Beauvoir boozer the next day seeking pints of soda water and sustenance. Now, with the news that Nuno Mendes (executive chef at the Chiltern Firehouse) is taking over the kitchen for weekend brunches, that cycle is likely to become even more regular.
Needless to say, the Portuguese chef has devised a pretty enticing menu that involves eggs (of course) along with Secret Smokehouse trout and lemon latkes, or there’s skirt steak with chimichurri, plus some piri-piri options, and an extremely naughty sounding ‘Scolt Chelada’ - a special Bloody Mary mix topped with The Scolt Head’s Lager.
All in all, it sounds pretty exciting. And that’s not just because our local would be lucky to get anything more than a look of self-pity from us on a Saturday morning. If you echo that sentiment and fancy a hangover-curing custard tart, then you can book tables here. It starts July 31st, and will be every Friday - Saturday from 10am until 4pm.
If you’re picking up coffee, dinner, or pints after the 24th July, you have to wear a face covering.
