8 Exciting Things To Eat And Do In June

Here comes the sun. And more importantly, the return of a big beer garden, an outdoor theatre, and a big-deal burger pop-up.

We’ve been claiming it’s summer since we saw the first pathetic little bluebell in the park three months ago. Optimism or denial, you decide. But now it’s official, summer is here. This June there are new restaurants, the return of huge beer gardens, and… a corgi trail. Because, why not? Onwards for all the activities and restaurants that will give you the June you deserve.

Looking for more summer inspiration? Introducing the Infatuation London Summer ‘22 Bucket List.

Hit Up Borough Market For The Jubilee Weekend

Everyone’s favourite London market is getting a Queen Fest ‘22 makeover. Tragically, this does not involve corgis running riot on Southwark Street but you can expect regal bunting and a playlist of classic tunes from the past seven decades. Use our guide to Borough Market for all the best grab-and-go and sit-down meals in the area, or simply make a beeline for Bread Ahead’s doughnuts. Is being a sugar royalist a thing? We think so.

Finish Your Long Jubilee Weekend At P. Franco

Long weekends are great. That is, until they’re over and you enter an existential crisis, consider quitting your job, and wonder if being a miniature poodle breeder is still a viable career path. Sounds like you’re going to be in need of some wine, doesn’t it? Head to P. Franco in Clapton. One of London’s best wine bars and home to a rotating line-up of chefs, they’re rounding off the long Jubilee weekend with a guest appearance from James Kelly, an ex-Lyle’s chef who will be teaming up with Jamie Smart, an ex-St. John chef. Very, very exciting. Plus, it’s walk-in only so if you forgot to make any plans, you can still rock up for wine and good times.

Explore Camberwell Arts Festival

Hello art. Hello culture. Hello spending £200 on an original watercolour that you’ve convinced yourself you need to buy because it ‘matches the sofa’. Running from the 4th-12th June, Camberwell Arts Festival offers everything from a ‘platinum pooch dog show’ to a market packed full of handmade work for sale. Not to invoke hysterical cuteness overload but there’s also a ‘corgi trail’ involving 70 flat-pack dogs dotted throughout the area. Find the full schedule here. Hungry? Of course you are. Our guide, Where To Eat In Camberwell, can help with that.

Eat Unmissable Kebabs At The New Berenjak

Some very clever and humble people once described Berenjak’s lamb rump kebab as ‘perfectly pink and juicy’. Yes, those people were us but that doesn’t make it any less true. Now, this Iranian mazeh and kebab spot has just opened a second location in Borough, with the same Big Meat Energy menu and £45 feasting option. We have a feeling it’s going to be just as popular as the original so be sure to book your table to avoid any taftoon-related heartbreak.

Check Out The Return Of London’s Biggest Beer Garden

Outside of our co-dependent relationship with the BBC weather app, a trip to a beer garden is the ultimate sign that summer has landed. And this beer garden is a biggun’. Huge. Massive. Definitely large enough that you can accidentally lose your mate’s annoying partner. Aptly named Between The Bridges, this huge 4,000 square foot beer garden between Waterloo Bridge and Westminster Bridge has returned following its debut season last year. Expect a line-up of live DJs, drag brunches, and something deeply intriguing called a strawberry and watermelon fizz pint. Hit up the website for all the details.

Catch A Play At A New Outdoor Dalston Theatre

Going to see a play is great because you get to experience someone’s profound artistic vision coming to life. More importantly, you also get to feel incredibly smug you’re not at the pub. And seeing a play in an open-air theatre with a fully-stocked bar wins even more culture points. Arcola Outside in Dalston has a big line-up of productions throughout June and you can find all the details here. It also just so happens to be a six-minute walk from Ewarts Jerk, so consider this your official excuse to go and eat an industrial amount of takeaway chicken wings. Move over Shakespeare’s Globe, there’s a new favourite alfresco theatre in town.

Try This Hyped American Import Burger Pop-Up

America is a nation that isn’t afraid of a double patty situation. Throw in gouda, house dill pickles, and charred red onions and you’ve got Lucky Buns’ signature burger. This US burger brand hails from Washington, D.C. and Baltimore and from 23rd June you can get involved in its meaty numbers at Fitzrovia’s Carousel. If burgers aren’t your thing, there’ll also be fried buttermilk chicken nuggets, fries with a Hawaiian curry gravy (!), and frozen cocktails on the menu. Find it all at Carousel’s new little 10-counter side hustle, No. 23

Book Your Tickets For Pub In The Park

Festivals, sweet darlings that they are, tend to consist of baby wipe baths, unholy blisters, and having to shout “I’m by the giant inflatable parrot, no the other one” into a Nokia 3310. But Pub In The Park Festival is less about getting feral and more about eating. The headliners here are the chefs, with several of our favourites getting involved including Tom Kerridge, Cue Point, and Hoppers. There’s also comedy and music from Craig David, Sophie Ellis Bexter, and other artists that will make your 14-year-old self incredibly hyped. Get your tickets here for the Dulwich event which is taking place from 24-26 June.
