Winnie's

The outside of Winnie’s, a vibrant Cajun-Creole bar in Midtown, is painted a bright pink and green, and it looks like the type of place where novelty candies are sold. If you grab a seat at the spacious bar, you’ll have plenty of room to settle in with a hot chicken sandwich and a cooling coleslaw. Or get the gooey pimento queso and use a tortilla chip to mix in the crawfish that sit on top. And during Happy Hour, there are daily specials which are a great excuse to slurp $1 Gulf oysters or have a $5 burger. Plus, the frozen drink flights come in treasure chests, which makes Winnie’s more of a gift than it already is.

Pimento Queso

The gooey levels of the pimento queso here should be studied and distributed amongst queso makers around the city. The crawfish on top mixes in perfectly with the queso, which has a dash of spice.

Oysters

The oysters at Winnie’s come chargrilled in buttery garlic sauce or raw. During Happy Hour the Gulf oysters are only $1, so you can sling back to your heart's content.

Burger

The burger at Winnie’s is grilled and hearty with a perfectly toasted sesame seed bun encapsulating it. And during Happy Hour, the burger is only $5, so you can have a budget-friendly burger that tastes like it was made for a special occasion.

Hot Chicken Sandwich

Blazing hot and worth every bite, the hot chicken sandwich at Winnie’s is a stunner. It’s spicy, has a toasty bun with crisped edges, and is dressed with a small mountain of coleslaw on top.
