You’ve probably heard of The Blind Goat, which relocated from a food stall in downtown to a full-fledged restaurant in Spring Branch. The modern Vietnamese restaurant comes from the same folks as Xin Chao, which has a similar menu with the usual suspects like spring rolls and Tex-Mex fusion mash-ups like the quexô and wonton chips. However, if Xin Chao is where you go with friends to grab Happy Hour and cocktails, Blind Goat is the spot to take your parents, or perhaps a friend you don’t know (or want to know) that well. Sure, there are pretty plates of whole fish to split and a single dessert apple pie that apparently made Gordon Ramsay smile—as well as impressive cocktails—which could be enticing if you really like popular TV cooking shows or if you happen to be in the area and are hungry and/or indecisive. Alternatively, though, you could throw a rock in Spring Branch and likely hit any number of great local Vietnamese spots.
