HOUReview
Taqueria Del Sol is a restaurant inside of a rainbow. The kaleidoscope of colors, from the bright orange walls to the murals inlaid in every table to the different streamers and garlands strewn across the ceiling, make you feel like celebrating something, even if it’s just getting a simple plate of tacos for dinner. This family-run Tex-Mex and Mexican restaurant in the Greater East End has been a pillar of the community for over three decades. And every server seems to genuinely care about your experience, like you’re a member of their own family. Go in the morning, the busiest time of day, for heaping portions of machacado and eggs or breakfast tacos made with handmade flour tortillas (which are miraculously less than $2 each). For lunch or dinner, we especially love the chile con queso with chopped poblanos, which is more like stretchy queso flameado, and the smoky carne asada plate. Throw in a couple conchas from the panaderia on your way out. You can also rent out Taqueria Del Sol’s adjoining banquet hall for one hell of a queso-fueled party.
