Frenchy's Chicken
A Houston staple without a doubt, Frenchy’s Chicken has multiple locations around the city, but our favorite is in the Third Ward, just a few minutes away from Texas Southern University. Since opening in the ‘60s, their golden-brown fried chicken, boudin links, and gris gris sauce has kept this place busy day and night. The chicken here is consistently crispy and comes with an ACG (Audible Crunch Guarantee) every time. Add a side of mashed potatoes or a soft, buttery roll to round out your meal, or grab a slice of their rich sweet potato pie to get a full Frenchy’s experience. When you order here, you’ll wait anywhere from 20-30 minutes to get your food (yes, even if you’re in the drive-thru), but if even Beyoncé mentions it in one of her songs—it’s clearly worth the wait.

Chicken
Frenchy’s has plenty of chicken options including drumsticks, tenders, and sandwiches. While all of the chicken is consistently crispy, our go-to order is the fried chicken wings because the spicy skin crackles with every bite.

Boudin Rolls
Essentially egg rolls stuffed with boudin, the deep-fried boudin rolls also come with a side of sweet chili sauce for extra spice and vigorous dunking.

Sides
The chicken at Frenchy’s might be the main character, but the meals here wouldn’t be complete without the sides that are more like the lovable, supporting characters that steal your heart. We’re most smitten with the Creole-inspired sides like the spicy dirty rice and the pillow soft red beans.
