Parked on the patio of Spring Street Bar in the First Ward is Clutch City Tacos, a small-but-mighty food truck that mostly serves tacos, but with a few tricks up its sleeve. There are three taco options, including a carne asada, a pollo asado, and a vegan. But the real stunner is the Clutch Burger, in which two huge, tender brisket and chuck patties are stacked on top of each other and melted together with two layers of cheese. You do have to unhinge your jaw a little to take a bite of this behemoth, but the pillowy buns provide ample comfort. Importantly, the burger can also get turned into a chopped cheese, where the burger meat gets minced with hot peppers and sweet caramelized onions, filling any empty space with a mountain of melted cheese. And after a few rounds of drinks at the bar, we can’t think of a better place to be than parked than on a picnic bench in front of Clutch City, chopped cheese in hand. And maybe a taco platter, too.

3 Taco Plate

Loaded with crisp onions, cilantro, and sprinkled with cheese, the tacos here are piled with tender meat with just the right kick. If you need more heat, drizzle some spicy diablita sauce over your tacos.

Pollo Mulitas

The pollo mulitas are filled with warm shredded chicken and gooey cheese, and stuffed inside a corn tortilla. The tender flour tortillas are melted onto the chicken and provide a cheese pull that should be documented in record books.

Clutch Burger

The double patty smashburger is covered in a fiery clutch sauce and melted cheese. The patties are encased in a toasty, buttery bun that doesn’t get soggy supporting this mammoth burger.

Chopped Cheese

Clutch City Tacos has a take on the chopped cheese, a sandwich full of minced burger meat, jalepeños, onions, and melted cheese. All of the flavor from the clutch burger can be found in the chopped cheese, plus jalapenos pack the sandwich with extra spice. Add an order of toasted hashbrowns to complete your meal.
