Capt. Benny's

You just gotta love a restaurant inside of a shrimp boat. Capt. Benny’s, a mostly fried seafood restaurant docked in Garden Oaks (and other locations around Houston), shells and shucks mountains of Gulf shrimp, oysters, and fish. You know that because the outside is littered with spent oyster shells. The food equation here is simple: every plate has something battered and fried to a crisp, or at least some glorious mound of golden-brown food. And fried food is delicious, especially when dunked in tartar sauce. Sitting at the worn wooden tables surrounded by fake portholes and portraits of fish, you can almost feel the ocean breeze on your face—or maybe that’s just the AC. There’s also a patio if you need a place for your kids to go berserk in between bites of popcorn shrimp. There are also multiple locations around town.
