Thank You

We’re always looking to make The Infatuation the best platform to find restaurants, and we appreciate your feedback!

We’ve got a Friday Fives Hit List, and it features the likes of Charlie Rose, Carmelo Anthony, Tina Fey, Zach Galifianakis, Jessica Alba, Padma, Aziz, James Murphy, Chrissy Teigen, Seth Meyers, Jon Hamm, anyone from Breaking Bad, and, up until this week, Questlove. We’d like to publicly apologize to his publicist for all the emails we’ve sent trying to lock this down over the last four years. Thanks for not putting a restraining order on us.

As you probably know, Questlove, aka Ahmir Thompson, is the drummer for The Roots, sidekick to Jimmy Fallon on Late Night, ruler of the interwebs, and one of most respected and well liked artists in this whole business of music. You’ve probably even seen Quest around town (cool people don’t use the Q). The guy is everywhere.

Not only did Quest open a chicken restaurant called Hybird a few years back (which has since closed), but he also released his memoir called Mo’ Meta Blues, which is a great read. Buy the book, and read Questove’s restaurant picks below.

QUestlove's "perfect for" Picks

Hybird (Now Closed) Perfect For: Serious Takeout Operation 75 9th Avenue

“Hybird in Chelsea Market is manna from heaven. Yes, I love Sullivan St’s Blue Ribbon chicken, David Chang’s chicken from Momofuku is boss, I’m often frequenting En’s chicken, and when he is not trying to set off a twenty alarm fire on my taste buds, Danny Bowien’s chicken at Mission Street Chinese spot is what the doctor ordered, but nothing can compare to the Hy this bird provides.  Not to mention, the dumplings and cupcakes and honey biscuits and slushies are the perfect chasers. I heard the owner frequently DJs at this spot. How cool is he?”

Doug E's Chicken & Waffles Perfect For: Small Plates 2245 Adam Clayton Powell Jr Blvd

“I have to say, my kryptonite in life is the cornbread at Doug E.’s Fresh Chicken & Waffles in Harlem. Yes, I will trek some hundred plus blocks for a cure to my carb jonez; this is hardly your granny’s recipe, this is some next level crack. If there’s a cure for this… I don’t want it.”

Nitehawk Cinema Perfect For: 136 Metropolitan Ave

“90 percent of all my free time is spent at Nitehawk Cinemas in Williamsburg. The weekends are especially sweet for their throwback film brunch selection. Nitehawk provides an intimate movie watching experience combined with top notch food. Pretty much a great experience for you and a loved one, or for you and your ex, or for you and brohams, or for you and your family...actually, the most pathetic move (watching movies by yourself) isn’t that bad here - no shame in my game for I do this a lot. Highly recommended.”

Brooklyn Bowl Perfect For: Celebrity Sightings 61 Wythe Ave.

“My Thursday night Brooklyn Bowl residency, Bowl Train, has picked up steam. This is where you can chow down on Blue Ribbon’s finest cuisine, watch the finest musicians, and talk smack about your 225 bowling prowess. Between co-owner Pete Schapiro and me, we aim to attract the hippest of the hip and the brightest of the bright. I’ll say that the coolest element is the fact that many a celeb has frequented our parties unscathed (I usually wait until after the night is over to thank whatever notable figurehead has paid us a visit). It’s here that you often find SNL currents and alumnae having gutter contests or Jam Band heroes like the cats in Phish, or gods like Todd Rundgren or starlets like Alison Brie or Janet Jackson even (!!!!!) getting their bowl on. Even Alicia & Swizz have many a date night here. The music is quality and my 700 plus Soul Train episodes keep people amused and boogying.”
