Today's Chicago Friday Fives comes courtesy of Paul Pabst, best known these days as Paulie, Executive Producer and permanent ManCave team member of the nationally syndicated television and radio Dan Patrick Show. If we are being honest, Paul's everyday office at the DP Show is pretty much the dream. Just lock us in a studio where we can discuss sports, interview interesting people, and play with cool sh*t all day.
Though he currently lives in New York, Paul is a Chicago guy to the bones, and he still manages to get back here often. Born on the south side, he attended Marian Catholic High School before heading off to Southern Illinois University. Post grad he did what all good Midwest graduates like to do and moved to Lincoln Park around DePaul. Paul's dad was a high school football teammate of Dick Butkus, and the man even named one of his two daughters, Payton, after another well-known Chicago sport's star.

“Yeah, everyone has a taco joint they frequent in Chicago, this is mine going on two decades. Go with the chorizo tacos…killer. Go to Taco/Burrito Palace on Halsted for amateur drunks fighting in line. Go to TBHouse for better grub and less d-bags.”
“I won’t bother with Chicago style options, if you don’t have your favorite by now…I have to question your life decisions. Franks ‘N Dawgs on North Clybourn and Willow. The creativity of the menu is impressive…it’s non-traditional by design. Go with The Southener, Bayou Dog or Krazy Kimchi.”
“If you tell me the menu is basically quality beers and sausages, I’m in. This place has a top notch beer selection that always evolves. For the grub, it’s more about ordering a few plates than entrees…grab a Venison sammich or Duck BLT.”
“Let’s not kid each other, barbecue anywhere north of Memphis has to be questioned. Good news for us is that there is now quality Q in Chi. They have all the classics…ribs…pulled pork…but don’t forget to take a run at some brisket tacos or a pork belly pastrami sammich.”
