Derek Davies and Lizzy Plapinger are the co-founders of Neon Gold, the "it" record label for all things fashionable indie pop. They've assisted in bringing the world artists like St. Lucia, Passion Pit, Marina And The Diamonds, Ellie Goulding, Tove Lo, Haim, Great Good Fine OK (our favorite EP of the year) etc etc.
Neon Gold host a monthly concert series called Pop Shop, which always feature artists on the brink of blowing up before they actually do. They also have their own music blog, which other record labels pine to get their artists featured on.
Oh yeah, one other thing. You've probably heard of Lizzy's band, MS MR. She's the lead singer. Business in the front, multi-color haired party in the back. Check out the resident New Yorkers restaurant picks below, They frequent all the cool spots, obviously.
neon Gold's "perfect for" picks
"Our number one brunch spot and go-to for just about everything else too - morning coffee, lunch meetings, take-out, artist dinners... Jack's Wife ticks all the boxes. Can't miss with the Madame Freda or Jack's Breakfast for brunch, Fish a la Plancha or the Chicken Prego for lunch, and the Peri-Peri Chicken for dinner, but it's hard to go wrong with anything here."
"Our friends at The Westway (the official home to all our live events) and The Smile (the official home of just about all our artist dinners) answered our prayers for a decent bagel spot in Soho to grab a quick breakfast near our office. Black Seed has delicious Montreal style bagels and amazing spreads, and as of a few days ago they have answered our second set of prayers and started serving breakfast sandwiches with baked eggs and mile end bacon."
"BEST ramen in downtown Manhattan, hands down. No competition. Nothing even comes close. Pork Shio Spicy is the dream."
“Our number one treatment spot for hungover mornings after late nights at our shows. The rosti topped with black forest ham has saved our lives more times than we can count, far and away the best hangover cure in the game.”
