Life comes full circle for one member of The Infatuation in today's Friday Fives. I used to be obsessed with Blink 182. They were my favorite band. Sticker on the car/snowboard/locker, patch on the bag, poster on the wall, t-shirt, sweatshirt, dyed hair and pierced eyebrow. All of it. I even made a bid to be their "ultimate fan" for some silly MTV show. Somewhere, in the depths of their rejection drawer (aka the garbage), there's a video of myself, pathetically attempting to play the chords of "Dammit," wearing nothing but a pair of boxers, freezing my nuts off outside in a frigid Ithaca winter. In other words, this Friday Fives is a big deal.
Mark Hoppus, welcome to The Infatuation. Dude, whenever you want to take us for Mexican food at Sombrero, we're in. NYC restaurant picks below.
mark's "perfect for" picks
"Always the best fish, served as art. Imaginative, genius, and brilliant. Can I describe sushi like that? Well, it is."
"Amazing Italian spot in the Upper East Side, in the basement of a residential area. How can you mess with a spot that has its own bocce ball court?"
"Last time I was out in New York, we wandered into Tamarind, not knowing what to expect. Turned out to be some of the best Indian food I've ever had. I got crazy and asked the waiter to bring out whatever he thought was best. He asked a few questions and what he brought out was pure happiness."
"I've been coming here for years. A Soho Italian joint on a quaint little corner. On a nice night, sit outside, try the lasagna, and thank me later."
"Another Soho eatery, this one an old-school American bistro style. Perfect for late night (open until 2:30 on weekends), or lunch. Pizza, burgers, salads, and a full bar. What more could one ask for?"
