At this point we've probably seen Mark Foster, today's Friday Fives guest and his band, Foster The People, about seventeen times. They seem to be at every festival we've been to over the past few years.
Foster The People recently released their sophomore album, Supermodel, which features the singles "Coming Of Age" and "Best Friend," which you may recognize from recent Infatuation Spotify Playlists. There are some great jams on this album, so get them into your summer rotation, and make sure you're primed for Governors Ball, which is just a few weeks away.
mark foster's "Perfect for" Picks
"I always take note when I find a great burger. In L.A. I've got to say that the Umami Truffle burger is nearly perfect. I love the burgers at Father's Office, Sprout, Apple Pan, and of course In 'n Out; but at the end of the day for whatever reason, the Truffle at Umami takes the cake. When I'm done with it, I always consider ordering another."
"Sugarfish is my favorite spot for quick, consistently fresh, amazing sushi. L.A. has a multitude of sushi spots that are killer but for the price, I don't think I've found a place that can contend with Sugarfish. Try one of the Trust Me boxes for lunch some time. They come with a nice assortment of the fresh fish of the day. You don't have to think too hard about it. You can just pick one up and know it's going to be great. Trust me."
"The Carne Asada Number 5 Burrito (might be number 6 and definitely double check because one of the other is tongue) at Cactus on Vine and Santa Monica has got to be my favorite burrito in LA. You have to be really hungry to be able to finish this beast, but even if you're full, it's hard not to eat the whole thing because it's so damn filthy and delicious. From how they season their meat, to their assortment of homemade hot sauces, this place trumps all other taco stands I've tried in LA. It's been there for a long time and I predict it will be there for many more years to come."
"A place worth eating at for the views alone. The food is good, the vibe is nice and pretty casual, but the view is the reason to go to this place. It's a good place for a business lunch or a first date. There's a fake ice skating rink half a block away if the date is going well and you want to keep it going."
Swingers. It's an LA staple. The menu is impressive. The waitresses are hot. It's open late. They won't give you the look of judgment if you stumble through the door at 3 in the morning slightly foaming in the corners of the mouth and quietly giggling to yourself. The main reason I love this place though is their TUNA MELT. It is the greatest tuna melt I have ever had. Ever. I get it toasted on wheat and I make sure to add avocado and grilled onions. It comes with tomato already but I usually replace that with the onions. Whatever floats your boat. Another way to get this is to order the stuffed grilled cheese sandwich and add tuna. I always order a side of ranch to dip it in. Don't knock it til you try it."
