If you have lived in New York City for more than a few years, then you know who Lin-Manuel Miranda is, even though you may not realize it. Miranda wrote, starred in, and created the massive hit Broadway musical "In The Heights," which, if you were in New York City anytime between 2008-2010, you either saw several times, or at least saw 24 hour commercials for it on NY1. Either way, it touched you.
These days, Lin-Manuel Miranda is dedicating his time to a comedy group he started in college back in 2002, Freestyle Love Supreme. What is Freestyle Love Supreme? Well, to quote their own words, it is the "spontaneous fusion of hip hop, improv and comedy." So basically, it's a super cool stage show with a bunch of performers who have serious rhyming skills. Sort of like what what would happen if you put Donald Glover and Action Bronson in Glee, minus all the beards and drugs and cursing. We made you want to watch it now, right? Good, because their brand new show premieres on TV tonight, Friday, October 17 at 10:30pm ET/PT on Pivot.
In addition to being a creative musical genius, Lin–Manuel Miranda also likes to eat. Check out his Washington Heights Friday Fives.
