Today we have favorite restaurant picks from Fabio Viviani, who first entered our lives as a Top Chef contestant in 2008. Since then, he hasn't gone away. In fact, he set up shop right here in Chicago. We don't actually know Fabio, but we do mess with him a lot when we write reviews of his restaurants or include them in guides (Siena Tavern and Bar Siena, Prime & Provisions). He's always a good sport about it on social media, so we're happy to have him share his favorite places to eat with us.
Aside from his restaurants, Fabio also has his own wine called Fabio Viviani Wines, which can be purchased at Whole Foods throughout Illinois. Make sure to holler at Fabio on Twitter, and, of course, check out his Friday Fives below.
"This is my friend Jeff Mauro's new hotspot. The place serves all kinds of pork deliciousness prepped between two slices of bread."
"The restaurant is located in a great spot! It is an old school restaurant with quality food. But the people watching can't be surpassed by far."
"It is an old school eatery with Italian inspired dishes. Look on the wall and if you pay enough attention, you will find a picture of mom and dad's biggest crush. Everyone famous worth being mentioned before 2000 has had dinner there."
"My wife and I love this hidden Wicker Park spot. The speakeasy type bar is a great escape to go to for a date night and a good place to relax while enjoying a handcrafted cocktails with great company, of course."
"Best suits in Chicago. Ask for Sonny or Ricardo, they'll make sure you are taken care of!"
