Enthusiasts of old school internet no doubt remember the website Digg, designed to surface the best things on the web via user voting. Not only was Digg one of the biggest sites out there in the middle of the last decade, but it basically spawned Reddit. So feel free to thank them for your insatiable need to page through reaction gifs and puppy photos for hours at a time.
The company has changed a lot since then, re-founding in 2012 after big changes with the staff and strategy. But if you still think of Digg as a relic from the Internet 1.0, you need to think again. The site has been completely reinvented, and is better now than it's ever been.
These days, the content is no longer voted on by a bunch of dudes who probably live in their mom's basement, but chosen by an excellent editorial team that curates the offerings. They're actually so good at curating that we decided to have the group curate some restaurant picks for the Friday Fives you see before you.
By the way, what version of the internet are we on right now? Based on some of the restaurant websites we've seen out there, we're guessing still somewhere around 1.0.1.

"General Tso's Chicken and egg rolls are the first things that come to mind when people normally think about Chinese delivery, but if you're ordering that stuff from Legend, you're doing it wrong. We've literally been getting their spicy and super flavorful Sichuan cuisine delivered to our office every Thursday for over two and a half years. Don't miss the Pickled Sichuan Vegetables, Cumin Lamb, or the Cheng Du Spicy Stir-fried Eggplant... but we'll admit, their eggrolls are pretty damn tasty as well."
"Part of every employee's training at Digg involves learning how to use the Chemex. In other words, if you're not a serious coffee connoisseur by the time you get to Digg, you will be in no time. Búdin has got an amazing selection of coffee: it's one of the few places you can get the good Scandinavian stuff like Tim Wendelboe, Koppi and Drop Coffee."
"The rooftop of Brass Monkey gets crowded at night, but before the sun goes down, it's a great place to catch some sunshine and a nice afternoon buzz. Not that we'd ever sneak out of our office to do that. Nope, not us."
"Want to feel like you and your dinner party are the most special and wonderful snowflakes to have ever fallen on this earth? Take the train or car out of the city for the tasting menu at Blue Hill at Stone Barns. The food is seasonal, sustainable, and most importantly really, really delicious. And the service? It's how we imagine The Royals dine on the regular."
"Don't go to a restaurant for a first date; that's what drinks are for. But if that first date goes well, take your romantic target to Estela for the followup. Drink from their excellent wine list while gazing into your companion's eyes. Nibble on the ridiculously delicious Steak Tartare with Sunchokes and Burrata with Salsa Verde while impressing your date with that great story you found today on Digg. Oh, young love."
