Today we have favorite restaurant picks from comedian Cate Freedman. How many times have you heard stories of successful stars that started out with Second City? Maybe John Belushi, Bill Murray, Steve Carrell, or Tina Fey rings a bell. Well familiarize yourself with Cate because she's on the same path.
Cate is a Chicago native who became heavily involved with Second City. After meeting a few other comedians all with names derived from "Katherine," they started a comedy ensemble called The Katydids. The ladies, including Cate Freedman, are now the creators, executive producers, writers, and actors of the funny and edgy comedy "Teachers," which airs on TV Land at 10:30 Wednesday nights. Need proof "Teachers" is funny? Check out Cate's Friday Fives below, and holler at her on Twitter to tell her what you think.
"I’ve learned some pretty legit mentalism from some Chicago improvisers that are really good at it, and I can safely guarantee you that the next time you ask me what time it is, the correct answer will be: taco time. These are my favorite tacos in Chicago. They have multiple locations, but the best is in Little Village (and they have a drive-through if you’re feeling shy)."
"My best bud Haney used to live down the block from this place. I was always sure to strategically hang out with him every Monday so we could take advantage of .25 cent wing night at Wild Goose. These people are multi-year Wingfest champs in both Buffalo AND Barbeque so you can bring your pussy friends that can’t take the heat, too. The wings here are on point so you might need to come early to snag a table. They have a full bar so you can stay all night and drink and watch sports too. It’s only disgusting if you make it disgusting."
"Best snapper dog in Chicago since 1946. For your pleasure and convenience the dog and fries come gingerly dumped in the same bag for the mega low price of $2.59."
"Right by where I grew up, you cannot judge this Indian place by it’s appearance or multitude of signs for it is as delicious as it is cheap, and it is mega cheap. Butter chicken is $4.99. Bread is awesome. Portions are huge."
"Pretty sure this place is the closest I’ve been to France. Anyone can score after a nice meal here; the food is a ten so you don’t have to be. If you’re looking to date on the cheap, you cheap f*ck, go on Tuesday for the three course prix-fixe, it’s a steal. If you’re a cheap creep, pop in on Monday’s for ½ price wine by the bottle night."
"Worth the drive to the burbs, even if you’re a city dweller. Suburbanites should check out their locations to see which is most convenient. Tasty take-out for vegetarians and meat lovers alike."

"Everything is good here. Food so comforting that it can alleviate guilt and other various eccentricities. Political bonus: our hometown hero and all around bad*ss President Obama loves it too."
"Delicious Greek-American food attached to some bar you can drink at. Evanston version of this would be the wonderful family owned Cross-Rhodes on Chicago Ave. (Bar not included)."
