Amy Sedaris

If you're an Amy Sedaris fan, you'll understand why we're so excited to have her for Friday Fives. Amy is one of our all time favorite funny people, going all the way back to her days on Strangers with Candy, and also thanks to videos like this.

Now Amy is starring in Jon Favreau's new food movie Chef, along with pretty much every other movie star in Hollywood including Robert Downey Jr. and Dustin Hoffman. You'll even see a few familiar faces from the real life restaurant business, like Roy Choi and Aaron Franklin.

Check out the trailer, and hit up one of Amy's Friday Fives restaurants before you head to the theater. Chef is out in New York and LA today, and nationwide on May 16th.

amy's "perfect for" picks

Mary’s Fish Camp Perfect For: Dining Solo 64 Charles St.

"I was a waitress there. I served many people dining solo at the counter, which I called the sand bar. The seafood is “catch of the day” fresh and perfectly prepared. Best cockles in town, and when you’re alone, who isn’t comforted by a cockle."

Morandi Perfect For: Serious Take-Out Situation 211 Waverly Pl.

"I seldom go out to dinner. I enjoy cooking for myself, but on those days when I run out of butter and half and half, I order in from Morandi. The food is excellent, portions are generous and they don’t skimp on the butter."

I Sodi Perfect For: Special Occasions 105 Christopher St.

"NYC has a lot of Italian restaurants and I like many of them, but I Sodi is my favorite, especially when I’m treating someone for their birthday. The restaurant is intimate, so I like to dine at the bar. The food reminds me of home-cooked Italian."

Joseph Leonard Perfect For: Girls’ Night Out 170 Waverly Pl.

"It feels extravagant to go to lunch with friends because so seldom are we all free at the same time. I like the atmosphere and coziness of Joseph Leonard, and the menu is simple American fare and always delicious."

Prune Perfect For: Adventurous Eating 54 E. 1st St.

"You can feel the energy in this restaurant as soon as you walk through the door.  I never thought I would eat bone marrow. The menu is unusual in the best way imaginable."
