There isn’t a more obvious choice for a Friday Fives than the only legit rapper who is also a serious chef - Queens’ own Action Bronson. Bronson, whose father is Albanian and mother is from Brooklyn, takes his eating seriously. Action started cooking at a young age, helping his mother and grandmother in the kitchen with everything from stews and goulash to stuffed cabbage. He’s worked at numerous restaurants over the years, even cooking for the Mets at one point.

“You can always catch me at the halal truck on 73rd and Broadway, right in front of the Kabab King. I get the lamb over rice with the pita bread, the green sauce, the white sauce, and the red sauce. All of the sauces man. All of ’em. After that, I go to the Kabab King for dessert. They have the best gulab jaman ever. They’re like little balls of deep fried sugar balls filled with a milk and sugar concoction. It’s fucking delicious.”
“That’s my place in Brooklyn. Sometimes you got to celebrate with a nice big steak. This is the way a real steakhouse is supposed to be. Some people can’t afford it, you know, so it’s always nice to be able to treat someone to a meal like this who wouldn’t normally be able to eat like this.”
