If you've been reading this site for a while, you've been recently subjected to a lot of new things. New cities, new people, new Instagram accounts...even a newly discovered, extremely helpful dinosaur.
Today brings yet another new thing. A new Infatuation website.
For those of you who struggle with change, we're sorry. Let the food be your comfort. For the rest of you, allow us to take a moment to show you around and explain what we're up to.
Over the last eighteen months, we've been working extremely hard to improve, evolve, and grow such that The Infatuation can reach a larger audience and become an even better tool in your "I need to find a great restaurant" tool belt. That's why we put such an emphasis on creating objective, high-quality written reviews and guides, that's why we launched our SMS recommendation service called Text Rex, and that's what led us to make the significant changes and improvements to the website that you currently see before you. We just want to be better.
THE RESTAURANT FINDER
At the core of the new site is what we're calling a "restaurant finder," because we are good at naming things. You can access this by clicking the blue "Find Restaurants" button at the top right of the page (on desktop) or the little arrow (on mobile).
The restaurant finder is basically our "Perfect For," neighborhood, and cuisine filters, combined with a location aware map. You can still add and combine all of our filters:
And now you can even search based on landmarks, points of interest, or your own current location.
what's with the colors?
You're probably noticing that the map pins and circles that represent rating have different colors. That's meant to indicate sentiment. The ratings scale a spectrum from red (meaning bad) to green (meaning good). Yellow means medium. We are geniuses.
Beyond that, we've made improvements to our site-wide search, featured guides more prominently, and ideally made it generally easier for you to get around and find what you're looking for.
Stay tuned for correlating updates to our apps, and Text Rex. And feel free to send us feedback if you have some. We'll be iterating and improving on things over the next days and weeks, But we're proud of it.
A big thanks goes out to our development partners, Mobelux, who created this monster. This was not a small task, and they are an excellent team of very nice, very talented, very patient people.
Now go forth and find good eating.
