Three House

1450 W. Chicago

Chicago, Illinois 60642

The smashburger at Three House, an all-day restaurant in West Town, is exactly the kind of burger we want when we’re hungover. Two juicy patties topped with the perfect amount of shredded cheddar, caramelized onions, and garlic aioli on a fluffy sesame bun. It’s rich and delicious without being overwhelming - so on second thought, it’s just the kind of burger we want to eat, period.

We recently added Three House to the Hit List thanks to their delicious smashburger and curried chicken empanada. But they also serve a brunch menu that’s available every day, with dishes like french toast topped with coffee anglaise and jam, fried chicken biscuit with chorizo gravy, and a very good BEC. Grab a smoothie to go with it and prepare to take over the world. Or, watch five episodes of Drag Race back-to-back. Either way, you’re being productive.

If you want something with a range of options, consider Three House. It’s another counter-service spot in West Town that’s open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and has things like a delicious smashburger, fried chicken biscuit with chorizo gravy, empanadas, and entrees like fried brussels sprouts topped with shallots, feta cheese, and tender slices of skirt steak. They don’t serve booze but they have great smoothies, and, besides, you have a box of wine at home.

Open for takeout and indoor dining

I received three DMs telling me to try the smashburger at Three House, an all-day restaurant in West Town. And once I tried it, I wanted to write a thank you note to the tipsters - the burger is delicious, with two juicy patties topped with the perfect amount of cheddar and garlic aioli on a fluffy sesame bun. But the burger isn’t the only reason I’m putting Three House on the Hit List. The rest of the dishes I tried were also great - like the curried chicken empanada that had a light and crispy shell. Or the fried brussels sprouts topped with shallots, feta cheese, and tender slices of skirt steak. I can’t quite put my finger on why, but this is exactly the kind of food I want to eat when I’m hungover, drunk, or about to get drunk.

Three House is an all-day spot that just opened in the old Bar Biscay space in West Town. The menu is relatively short and focused, with breakfast dishes like French toast and a BEC sandwich, along with lunch and dinner items like a smash burger, ricotta gnudi, and a selection of empanadas.
