Where we've featured it
Sugargoat is a dessert shop in the West Loop with fun things like caramel corn cake and a chocolate shake french fry pie. And for Saint Patrick’s Day, they’re offering a number of specials. You can get desserts like an Irish stout chocolate cake, and a Lucky Charms cereal cake, along with a variety of decorated cookies and cupcakes. Pre-order here.
We recently checked out this new bakery from the team behind Little Goat, and their Cheez-it cupcake ended up being one of the best things we ate that week. Sugargoat specializes in fun flavor combinations, including an apple pie with a cheddar-caramel sauce, a chocolate shake and fry pie, and classics like pecan and chocolate cream. All of which are still available to order for Thanksgiving.
Resentment towards not having a Milk Bar in Chicago coupled with our love for Little Goat’s baked goods made us very excited when we heard that the Goat team opened Sugargoat. It’s a dessert shop in the West Loop with fun combinations like caramel corn cake, chocolate shake french fry pie, and avocado toast cake. We picked up some cupcakes and can tell you that their quirky-sounding flavors aren’t simply a cry for attention, they’re actually fantastic. Case in point, the Cheez-it cake filled with cheddar caramel and topped with strawberry Nesquik buttercream and peanut butter and chocolate-covered Cheez-its. It’s sweet, salty, and the most wonderful cupcake probably ever. Yes, really.
On June 24th from 4:30-6:30pm Sugar Goat is holding an ice cream social for Pride on their new sidewalk patio. Tickets are $22 and include an ice cream sandwich, cupcake, cocktail, and portions of each ticket will be donated to Brave Space Alliance. Buy a ticket here.
The Goat team decided that having 84 great West Loop restaurants wasn’t good enough, so they opened Sugargoat in the space next to Little Goat Diner. It’s a dessert shop specializing in treats with fun flavor combinations. So you can get things like pickled raisin oatmeal cookies, a gjetost apple pie, or Cheez-it cake filled with cheddar caramel and topped with strawberry Nesquik buttercream and peanut butter and chocolate-covered Cheez-its. Does that last one sound like a stoned person’s late-night fantasy? Yes, but we can confirm that it’s delicious.
Sugargoat is a very good bakery from the Girl & the Goat team that opened last year in the West Loop. And if you haven’t checked this place out yet, Valentine’s Day seems like a good time to do it. They’re offering a variety of decorated cookies, a heart-shaped chocolate chip cookie cake, and a vanilla cake with caramel and strawberry frosting. Oh, and for $20 you can get an assortment of five Valentine’s Day cupcakes.

We admire that Sugargoat is calling their Restaurant Week dessert assortment “lunch”. For $25 you can get either cookies, cupcakes, pies (like the chocolate shake French fry pie, which is as wonderful as it sounds), or ice cream sundaes for takeout or delivery. Whatever you choose is meant to feed four, and we’d like to remind you that’s only a suggestion.
