Pilsen Yards has a great back patio with a retractable roof, lots of heaters, and even a heated floor. Come here for drinks and dishes like sweet corn tamales and ceviche. You won’t even notice that it’s technically still winter.
Pilsen Yards is a mostly Mexican spot that recently took over the Monnie Burke’s space in Pilsen. Monnie’s had a great back patio, and Pilsen Yards has taken full advantage. They added a retractable roof, lots of heaters, and installed a heated floor. This restaurant has a very detailed IG post letting you know how warm the patio feels based on the temperature outside. During single digits, it felt about 60 degrees. So, by our calculations this week it will feel like the Spring Break you’re not going on this year.
You might remember Monnie Burke’s, a now-closed Pilsen restaurant with a back patio that was about 30 miles long. Monnie Burke’s has been replaced with Pilsen Yards, a Mexican restaurant serving tacos, nachos, and large plates like carne asada. But most importantly, they upgraded that huge patio with heated floors so you can now eat (and drink) outside in the middle of winter.
The secluded outdoor space at the now-closed Monty Burke’s in Pilsen was fantastic, so we were happy when we heard that a new restaurant recently took over the space and re-did the back patio. Pilsen Yards added heated floors and a covering, and starting January 23nd will be hosting “hangover vinyl brunches,” which will include vinyl, brunch, and (presumably) hangovers.
