The Lobby at The Peninsula
Tea at The Peninsula is everything you expect it to be. Assuming that you expect this fancy hotel to have soaring ceilings, impeccable service, a duo of cello players playing the theme from Pirates of the Caribbean, and a glass of Tattinger included with your meal. The tea selection is excellent, the pastries and cakes are great, and a chocolate cupcake is waiting for you as a parting gift. This experience is a great option for a special occasion, or if you just want to dress up and try one of the best afternoon teas Chicago has to offer. A couple of things to keep in mind: It’s usually booked up weeks in advance (only two seatings per weekend day) with prepaid reservations, and at $135 per person, this is one of the more expensive options in the city.
