Cajun and Creole restaurants open and close in Chicago at an alarming rate. We hope Fifolet in Wicker Park doesn’t also succumb to this trend, since their Cajun food is very good. The menu is full of classics, including gumbos and po’boys. Order the Fifolet gumbo, which has alligator, crawfish, and shrimp, and the shrimp and grits - the shrimp has nice spice and the grits are fluffy and creamy. It’s a casual spot, with a large bar in the center of the restaurant, and you should come for drinks or a low-key date night. If you’re lucky, they’ll have live music.
