Unsurprisingly, bánh mì are the focus at Banh Mi City, a small counter-service spot on 18th Street in Pilsen. And these bánh mì do not disappoint. The ratio of fillings like lemongrass chicken, sweet BBQ pork, and Vietnamese meatballs to fresh-baked bread (soft and fluffy, with a crust that’s not hazardous to the roof of your mouth) and crunchy pickled vegetables is excellent. The menu also has a dedicated vegetarian and vegan section, along with things like spring rolls, salads, and pho. The space is small with only five tables, but the service is exceptionally friendly and it’s never hard to grab a seat.
