Bacolod Chicken House
For delicious Filipino homestyle cooking, we head to Bacolod Chicken House in North Park. The restaurant is bright and spacious, with plenty of tables for lunch or dinner with all 15 of your cousins (plus that one you always forget).
The Filipino city of Bacolod is known for its chicken inasal, and that dish is excellent here, with grilled, smoky chicken skin and tender meat flavored by a tangy calamansi marinade. Other menu standouts are the kare kare packed with string beans and fall-off-the-bone oxtail in a peanut butter stew, and some of the best lechon kawali we’ve had. This pork belly has a fantastic crunch (but won’t chip a tooth) and the meat is fatty and tender. Everything comes in generous portions and is best eaten family-style, so come hungry, and make sure your 16 cousins are, too.
