Aya Pastry

(312) 846-6186

1332 W Grand Ave

Chicago, IL 60642

For more St. Patrick’s Day sweets, visit Aya Pastry in the West Loop. They have several holiday-themed pastries available, including a mint cream bun, which is a soft milk roll filled with mint cream and topped with cookie pieces. Pick up in-store or use their new drive-thru window and don’t even get out of your car.

Aya has a lot of things that you can pretend you made from scratch. For example, take-and-bake croissants (regular, chocolate, or ham and cheese), biscuits, and a variety of scones. And like everything that comes out of this West Town bakery’s kitchen, you can count on them to be fantastic.

Consider this entry a bonus, because Aya isn’t really that new. This bakery in West Town opened late last year, and we’re not sure that enough people know about it. The “Aya” in question was the head pastry chef at Maple & Ash, and now you can get her fantastic baked goods straight from the source. Her bakery has everything from wonderfully flaky croissants, to all kinds of bread (like sourdough and pull-apart milk bread) to take-and-bake cinnamon rolls that will change your life.

This bakery has a lot of bake-at-home treats that are easy for kids to put on a baking sheet and then stare at in the oven. Tell them cliches like “a watched pan never bakes” and then forget to turn the oven on. It will teach them a valuable lesson about patience and resentment.
