The outside of Ada St. looks more like the beginnings of a bad horror movie than a place for a nice date night. (A weird side street location near a Home Depot can do that to a place.) But once inside, you’ll realize why this is the perfect summer date night spot: the quiet and enclosed middle courtyard is surrounded by brick walls and hanging lights, and it’s a great place to get to know someone over shared small plates.
Ada Street is in a barren, industrial part of Logan Square, and the entrance is on what looks like a frontage road. If you’re not expecting this, you might think you’re being lured into a trap. The isolated atmosphere continues with the enclosed and hidden courtyard in the back of the restaurant. But once you get settled and text everyone to let them know you’re alright, you can have a nice, quiet dinner without hearing city buses go by. Order the steak tartare and the pasta of the day.
Twinkly nights and a pretty patio are pretty much a slam dunk for any successful date night, and Ada Street delivers on it all. Sit outside and share small plates in a cute little courtyard if you can, but know that the inside offers a similarly pleasant experience.
