Acadia might be located in the South Loop, but hey, it’s still the Loop. It’s also worth having on your dinner radar if you’re looking for a nicer night on the town. The inside is a modern, simple, and bright space, and the food is inspired by the great American outdoors. Not that all food doesn’t come from the outdoors, but Acadia is all about coastal Maine, nature, and what not. You get the point.
Acadia is an upscale South Loop restaurant with a seven-course tasting menu in the dining room. So what the hell are we talking about it here for? Because they serve an excellent burger at the bar only (where you don’t even need a reservation). This burger has gruyere, bacon onion jam, and a truffle mornay, and it’s our favorite fancy burger in Chicago.
Acadia flies under the radar a bit, and we attribute that to its South Loop location. If this place was in the West Loop it would inevitably get a lot more love. But it’s one of the better-kept secrets in town, serving contemporary American food in a sleek setting. And the combination of approachable food and ingredients with perfect service and attention to detail is what might make Acadia the right place for you. The food is influenced by New England, which means you won’t be scared off by weird ingredients and French names you can’t pronounce, if those are things you worry about. Find comfort in the fact you’ll be familiar with everything that hits your plate.
