The Best Things We Ate During This Absurdly Warm Week
We eat a lot while researching the various guides and reviews you see on our site. This particular list is some of our favorite things we tried during this unseasonably warm week - the dishes that made us give a creepy smile to our plates. Hopefully, it serves as a source of inspiration the next time you’re deciding what to order.
The Dishes
Crispy Kataifi Cheese Pie
The Mediterranean climate is warm, so this was a particularly nice week to be checking out Andros Taverna, a new Greek spot in Logan Square. While we were impressed with all the food here, the dish that we can’t stop thinking about is the kataifi cheese pie. It’s shredded filo layered with feta and cow’s milk cheese, baked in butter until brown and crispy, then topped with honey and pistachios. If you need us to explain why this was delicious, we’re sorry - we’ve done all we can.
Toasted Ravioli
We had the opportunity during this sunny Tuesday to sit outside at Club Lucky in Wicker Park. And while we’ve eaten at this Italian spot a bunch, this time we were able to try a special - the toasted ravioli. The housemade pasta was filled with ricotta and spinach, and managed to be both crispy and tender. And these crunchy raviolis paired with a sweet marinara are something we want to see on the menu full-time.
Fries and Vanilla Milkshake
We’re currently researching a best new burgers guide, which is why we recently ordered from Reve Burger, a new West Loop carryout and delivery spot from the chef of fine dining restaurant Ever. But (plot twist) Reve’s burger isn’t what we’re going to talk about. Their fries and vanilla milkshake are what earned them a spot on this list. The crispy fries were covered in a sweet and salty seasoning powder that reminded us a little of BBQ potato chips, and the creamy vanilla milkshake was a delicious dipping sauce for said fries. Yes, you read that correctly.
