The Infatuation Chicago's Pride Bake Sale

Get one-of-a-kind baked treats from some of Chicago's best bakers this June as we celebrate Pride and support The Queer Food Foundation.

The Infatuation’s first-ever Pride Bake Sale is here. Throughout June we’ll be partnering with LGBTQ+ and ally bakeries in New York City, Chicago, and LA to make one-of-a-kind treats to celebrate Pride. Not only are these creations sweet and sparkly, they’re helpful too, as the Pride Bake Sale is benefitting The Queer Food Foundation. The Infatuation is donating $50,000 on behalf of partner bakeries to help fight food insecurity in the LGBTQ+ community. You can learn more about The Queer Food Foundation’s important work here. So gather your rainbow sprinkle-loving friends, get involved by supporting these spots, save room for ice cream swirled with glitter, and enjoy the sweetest celebration of Pride possible.

Sweet Mandy B’s makes the kind of old-fashioned desserts that will make you feel five years old again. So, for the Pride Bake Sale, it’s no surprise that they’re keeping things classic with a yellow cake cupcake with vanilla buttercream, topped with rainbow sprinkles and rainbow sugar.

This Queer-owned pop-up does, indeed, serve very milky ice cream, in flavors inspired by the owner’s Filipino heritage as well as fun options like Cinnamon Toast Crunch. For the Pride Bake Sale, they’ve got three flavors available online, as well as at L&M Fine Foods, Chicago Sugar Daddy, Brou’ne Desserts, and pop-ups throughout the month. Loud and Proud mixes cake batter ice cream with funfetti cake pieces and rainbow sprinkles and is topped with a shimmer of glitter, while The Butch Babe has vanilla bean ice cream with miso caramel, and Leather and Lace is a NOLA-style coffee ice cream (chicory coffee) with fudge berry swirls.

One of our favorite boutique donut shops in Chicago, Firecakes celebrates Pride with a Tahitian Vanilla Bean donut with a Rainbow Stripe, available at six locations for the month of June. As well as participating in the Bake Sale, Firecakes is donating a portion of their proceeds in June to Center on Halsted.

Rad Joy x Split Rail

Queer-owned Rad Joy creates art-like cakes and is teaming up with Humboldt Park spot Split Rail for a month-long collab, exclusively for the Bake Sale. Available at Split Rail and through Radical Joy’s website, the Cà Phê Sua Dá Carrot Cake inspired by the Rad Joy owner’s Vietnamese heritage and classic American baking. The cake has layers of carrot, pineapple, coconut, and cranberry cake, a coffee cream cheese mousse, and is finished with a condensed milk buttercream.
