London Staff Editor
Located in London
The Infatuation is looking for a London-based Staff Editor to help us become the city’s best and most-trusted resource for restaurant reviews and guides. We’re looking for an experienced editor who can work with our London team to write, edit, and generally make our editorial product excellent.
Not familiar with The Infatuation? We’re a website, newsletter, mobile app, and Instagram network started in 2009 in New York by two guys who wanted to help their friends find not only great restaurants, but the right restaurant to suit their needs on a particular evening. And that’s still what The Infatuation is built on today. We strive to write restaurant guides and reviews that are both entertaining and useful, so that you can find a spot that’s “Perfect For” whatever you need, be it Date Night or Late Night Eats. These days, we cover eight U.S. cities and London. As for how we operate - we never accept free meals, special treatment, or compensation of any kind from any restaurants. Everything we eat is paid for via our very own pockets, and our team always dines anonymously under creative aliases like Angus Rymer or Christabel Champagne. Well, we clearly can’t use those ones anymore, but you get the point.
If you like the sound of this, come help us build it in London. We’re looking for editor who can spot a misplaced comma in their sleep, but who can also work with writers on structure, voice, and tone. Naturally, you should also be someone who gets excited about London restaurants.
You don’t need to have worked in food media specifically, but experience editing in some professional context is essential. Maybe you’ve edited news stories, or novels, or personal essays, or math textbooks. Probably not math textbooks, but we’re open-minded, as long as you can demonstrate you’re comfortable working one-on-one with writers.
REQUIREMENTS - Experience editing in a professional context - you’re comfortable diving into a piece of writing and know how to give constructive feedback to writers. - Excellent sub-editing skills - you love grammar and would lose sleep over a missing comma. - Passion for restaurants - you’re the kind of person who plans trips around what you’re going to eat, and you’re the friend in the group who picks the restaurant.
Interested? Write to email@example.com and tell us why you’d be a good fit for the role. Attach a resume, but don’t make it a formal cover letter.
