Located in New York, NY
The Infatuation is currently publishing reviews and guides in nine cities, and we’re planning on getting into the double digits soon. To make that happen, we’re looking for a Staff Editor to join our editorial team. In this role, you’d be working closely with our Editorial Director and Managing Editor to edit all the content that gets published daily across all Infatuation cities. We’re looking for someone who can copy-edit in their sleep, but who can also work with writers on structure, voice, and tone. Naturally, you should also be really into restaurants.
You don’t need to have worked in food media specifically, but experience editing in some professional context is essential. Maybe you’ve edited news stories, or novels, or personal essays, or math textbooks. Probably not math textbooks, but we’re open-minded, as long as you can demonstrate you’re comfortable working one-on-one with writers.
- Experience editing in a professional context - you’re comfortable diving into a piece of writing and know how to give constructive feedback to writers.
- Excellent copy-editing skills - you love grammar and would lose sleep over a missing Oxford comma.
- Passion for restaurants - you’re the kind of person who plans trips around what you’re going to eat, and you’re the friend in the group who picks the restaurant.
- Familiarity with The Infatuation - you use the site and understand our tone and style.
Interested? Write to firstname.lastname@example.org and tell us why you’d be a good fit for the role. Attach a resume, but don’t make it a formal cover letter. If it seems like a fit, we’ll be in touch.
