Where To Get Italian Delivery & Takeout In Boston

Pantsless pasta is the best pasta.

Red wine and pasta will make you feel better. It doesn’t even really matter what’s bothering you, they just will. So during a time when we’re all feeling a little down, we’ve got some good news: There are plenty of Italian places in Boston open for takeout and/or delivery right now, including a lot of hard-to-get-into spots that are doing it for the first time. Below you’ll find a list of some of the really great places, restaurants we’ll happily return to as soon as they reopen and will happily drive to for curbside pickup in the meantime.

The Spots

If you don’t feel comfortable with sitting outside at a table on Coppa’s perfect, tree-lined South End patio, we understand. Until you do, you can still order from one of Boston’s best overall restaurants (either takeout or delivery) - some of our favorites include the pork sugo rigatoni and quattro formaggi pizza.

Delfino in Roslindale Square might be our favorite red sauce place in Boston. Our favorite dish on the menu, though, doesn’t contain red sauce at all - it’s the broccoli rabe linguine served with sausage made by an Italian butcher shop down the street. They’re doing takeout Tuesday to Saturday, with family-style meals available along with the regular menu.

Giulia’s new takeout-only menu changes every night. But it always includes some of their classics, like the prosciutto with figs and the stellar fresh pasta. That’s a better option than combining the last bit of noodles from whatever leftover boxes of Barilla you have lying around.

We know you only have one question about Pammy’s takeout menu, and yes, the lumache bolognese with gochujang is on it. The rest of the entree selection is a little small, but they’re offering a lot of appetizers. The current pricing is $65 for three dishes.

Sorellina is open for indoor and outdoor dining, but they’re still also doing takeout and delivery. So yes, the lobster gnocchi is there for you if you need it.

La Morra on Route 9 in Brookline is one of the most underrated Italian spots in Boston. If you haven’t been yet, now’s a good time to try it out as they’re offering both takeout and delivery. They have almost their entire menu available every night, including the cicchetti section filled with great little bites like fried sage leaves with anchovy. You can get bottled and canned beer, too.

SRV is open for indoor and outdoor dining, but they’re also running SRVia, the takeout and delivery branch of the restaurant. The menu is available Thurs-Sat and changes weekly. You could also opt for the SRVia Arsenale, the family-style tasting menu that runs $36 per person.

Four out of five times you try to go to Rino’s, you probably fail to last through the interminable wait and end up walking to Mario’s instead. Now that going inside isn’t even an option, try ordering some of their giant old-school Italian dishes to-go.

Mamma Maria’s natural role in the universe is to serve as the North End gathering spot for suburbanites celebrating graduations, wedding anniversaries, and promotions to regional sales manager. If that’s not normally your scene, you can at least check out the food now to see why it’s a step above the standard North End red sauce place. The menu is small, but good stuff like the ossobuco and porcini mushroom ravioli are available, and you can do takeout or delivery.

If you’re in the mood to not only watch The Godfather at one in the morning, but also try your hand at making Clemenza’s meat sauce, then give Dave’s Fresh Pasta in Davis Square a call. We frequently recommend this place for great sandwiches and prepared pasta dishes, but it’s principally an Italian grocery. You can still get either their prepared lasagna or the ingredients to make your own, via either takeout or delivery.
