Sour Duck Market
Included in
With a large outdoor patio area full of picnic tables, the all-day cafe and bakery Sour Duck Market in East Austin from the team behind Odd Duck and Barley Swine is perfect for anyone, really, dogs and kids included. It’s perpetually busy, but the wait is never too bad, whether you’re a party of two or a somewhat hungover but still rowdy bachelor party of 12.
On your way in, check what’s available in the pastry case, which might include kolaches or croissants or cinnamon rolls (definitely get the savory danish if you see it). The menu changes often and seasonally, but there are breakfast and brunch mainstays. There’s always a potato hash situation, a breakfast sandwich, a wagyu cheeseburger, and the kid’s burger (a secret minimalist smashburger). The enormous singular breakfast taco, one of our favorites in town, is a mere $5, and it is a thing of beauty, incorporating scrambled eggs, fries, red chili sauce, and queso fresco, all on a house-made flour tortilla.
