Shanghai Chinese Restaurant
There aren’t too many spots with dim sum brunch in Austin—options include Lin Asian Bar + Dim Sum, Qi, and the two locations of Wu Chow (downtown and Rosedale)—but they all require making reservations way in advance anyway. Conveniently, Shanghai—the casual Chinese restaurant in Highland that’s been around since 2008—is walk-in-only on Sundays. So show up, elbow your way to the front desk, and put your name on the list. The wait is never too bad, and the handmade dumplings are more than worth the effort. Every other day of the week, Shanghai does take reservations. You can get dim sum all day, alongside peking duck, bbq pork, and other Chinese American classics.
