Where we've featured it
If this name sounds vaguely familiar, that’s because this is the new project of Eden East - a food trailer in Austin that was located on the actual farm that grew many of their ingredients. But they recently moved their farm to Driftwood, and their food trailer to Desert Door Sotol, where they share more than just a lot. That’s because at Eden West, many of the dishes incorporate sotol byproducts, so you’ll see things like sirloin steak and onion rings with sotol nectar, next to butternut queso with sumac corn chips. Our favorite thing here was probably the hot quail knots - fried with a blue corn crust, and served with pickled mustard greens, carrot mole, and fermented hot sauce. But if you want something a little lighter, the chilled watermelon with fresh herbs, lime, and chili honey makes for a really refreshing snack.
Eden West is a new food truck located at Desert Door Sotol out in Driftwood Springs, from the folks that brought you Eden East and Hillside Farmacy. They have a small menu focused around local, seasonal ingredients, so you can expect to see things like chilled watermelon with herbs and chili honey, or fried okra with carrot mole mayo. They’re currently open Thursday-Sunday most weeks, but keep an eye on their Facebook for the latest information, specials, and hours.
