Counter Cafe is a diner-y spot we like best for daytime eating. It’s tiny, but the bar is a great place to take in the views - cooks grilling right in front of you and old-style coffee brewing. The place is consistently full, though you rarely have to wait for a table during the week. There’s a newer, shinier location on the East Side now, but we prefer Lamar Street location for it’s “we’ve been here a while” feel. Breakfast is served all day, there are plenty of healthy options, and the prices are reasonable. The Counterburger is a solid choice, and if you want to eat less/spend less, try the breakfast tacos.

For sandwiches the size of your face, go to Fricano’s. Its location on campus isn’t the best, but the schlep is always worth it.
