Hotel coffee can be a sad affair. There’s either some wasteful pod-based coffee-like liquid in your room, or a huge vat of something lukewarm in the lobby. The Line Hotel downtown has a solution to this problem: a walk-up counter of Alfred – a mini-chain of trendy coffee shops based out of LA – right in the middle of the lobby. The coffee (Stumptown), tea, and matcha drinks are excellent, and everything in the pastry case is house-made, including a savory kolache and a matcha concha. You can sit anywhere in the lobby, but this isn’t a place where you’ll want to linger for a while - it’s more of a grab-and-go situation. FYI: the bathroom with fake graffiti is something to behold.
