Mujō
Resting quietly amidst all the Westside progress, Mujō is a stellar omakase from the same team that brought us neighboring Cooks & Soldiers. When you walk inside the unassuming Howell Mill entrance, you’ll enter a dimly-lit dining area with a tidy sushi bar at its heart. The 15 or so chairs at the wooden rectangular counter will be filled with well-dressed couples (and the simply-dressed local celeb or two) watching chefs skillfully prep and present courses like Chūtoro nigiri, tiny bites of artsy-looking sakizuke, and seasonal sweets. Yes, the delightful dance comes at a price ($225 per person), but even that proves fair for this sushiya hidden in plain sight.
