Citizens Market
Taking over a shuttered department store at Phipps Plaza, the new 25,000-square-foot Citizens Market finally answers the When is Buckhead getting a food hall? question. More uniformed in its look (kiosks have similar signage, servers wear black aprons) and approach (you’re texted when your order is ready) than other halls around town, this eight-stall (and a bar) market can work if long waits and uneven kitchens are rectified. But where El Pollo Verde’s rosemary chicken and quinoa bowl falls flat, Sa’Moto delivers soothing chicken wonton noodles and Soom Soom plates fresh chicken shawarma and cucumber salad. Umami Burger’s smashed double patty stands out (especially with truffle ketchup), but the 15-minute wait won’t sit well with hangry (and also probably entitled) Givenchy shoppers.
