Restaurant Reviews for the People

You know the trusted friends you turn to when you need a restaurant suggestion? That’s us. We aren’t “professional” food critics, meaning you won’t hear any pretentious foodie hobnob from us. We also aren’t restaurant industry insiders, nor do we accept invites, comped meals, or solicited reservations. Ever.

What we are is a website and mobile app started in 2009 (then as Immaculate Infatuation) by two guys who wanted to help their friends find not only great restaurants, but the right restaurant to suit their needs on a particular evening. That’s still what The Infatuation is built on today. We strive to make the reviews that we write both entertaining and useful, so that you can find a restaurant that’s “Perfect For” whatever you need, be it some Action At The Bar, or Authentic Ethnic Eats. The only difference is that these days there are few more of us on the team, and we have a whole lot more friends.

You also might notice us referring to the “word” EEEEEATS quite a bit. EEEEEATS is an often used hashtag and rallying cry that we created for our community, and anyone who is serious about food but doesn’t take food too seriously. If you aren’t using it already, try it sometime. It feels good.

The Crew

Chris Stang

Chris Stang

Co-Founder

Originally hailing from the great state of Colorado, Chris Stang moved to NYC in 2002 to chase down a dream job in the music business. After spending nearly twelve years in marketing at Atlantic Records, he now runs The Infatuation full time, spending most of his time writing, making mockumentaries, and coming up with names for the Golden Retriever he doesn’t have.

The best way to understand the mind of this complex man, is to understand his favorite things, respectively:

  • One Liners
  • Chips y Salsa
  • Running Marathons/Away From Scary Things
  • Muppets
  • “Luchini” into “Passing Me By”
  • John Elway
Andrew Steinthal

Andrew Steinthal

Co-Founder

Andrew Steinthal is a 12 year veteran of the East Village and an Ithaca College grad. He’d been on the music industry grind since high school, ending up at Warner Bros. Records as a VP of PR before leaving to chase the dream of running The Infatuation full time. He doesn’t like cheese, and once confused escarole with escargot, asking why there were no snails in his salad. When he’s not having a meal at a restaurant, he’s probably eating a bowl of cereal.

Things he enjoys too much: The New York Knicks/Yankees/Jets, chocolate chip cookies, The Candlelight Inn hot teriyaki wings, ice cream, making Spotify playlists, fantasy sports.

Max Child

Max Child

Also known around The Infatuation office as “Boy Genius” and “Kid Karate,” Max can best be described as the guy who has a season pass to the Chicago restaurant Next, even though he lives in San Francisco. Max’s passion for food and being smart is unrivaled, which is why we hired him.

Ben Kopelman

Ben Kopelman

Ben is the New York dude in charge of all things cheap eats, ethnic cuisine, and the outer boroughs. You know that amazing jerk chicken place out in Queens? Well he does, so be friends with him.

Calais Zagarow

Calais Zagarow

Calais is The Infatuation’s resident sports expert and also New York restaurant reviewer. BLT’s are her favorite food group, Charles Barkley is her hero, and she once wore a shirt that read “Will dance for food,” to dance class every night of the week. The mantra still stands.
