The Spots
Both Alidoro locations have a mile-long list of hot and cold sandwiches with names that don’t really tell you what’s in them, like the Pinocchio, Antoinette, Sofia, and Alyssa. They mostly stick to basics, but in a bunch of different combinations, so you’re sure to find your one true sandwich. We’re into the Brando - smoked chicken breast and provolone with sweet roasted peppers - or the classic Matt with prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, and arugula.

Getting Anton’s delivered isn’t quite like hanging out at the bar at this West Village spot, but the food does a pretty good job of conjuring the same kind of vibe. Try the Bucatini Bazynski, a twist on bucatini amatriciana with bacon instead of guanciale, or the Angel Hair Francese, which takes the Italian-American classic Chicken Francese and subs chicken for pasta.
The delivery menu at Atla is relatively short, but since the quesadilla and chicken soup are on it, we’re not complaining. Get the previously mentioned Oaxaca cheese quesadilla and chicken soup, plus some tacos, and if it’s brunch, the chilaquiles verdes y rojos with all the add-ons: poached egg, avocado, and mushrooms.

If you could never make it past the doorway into Bar Primi in the before times, well now you can have as much of their excellent pasta, whenever you want it. We’re talking spaghetti and clams, orecchiette with salsiccia, broccoli rabe and peperoncino, and rigatoni carbonara. Keep an eye too on the weekly delivery special for bigger options like an excellent veal milanese.
If you did have a bread baking phase over the past 12 months, you’re probably now over it. So skip the at-home braiding and order challah from Breads Bakery, plus a loaf of some of the best chocolate babka in the city. If you need any more reasons to try this place, we have a few: egg and tuna sandwiches, croissants, and burekas are also available for delivery.
The khachapuri penovani are a non-negotiable order at this Georgian restaurant in Chelsea, but we’re also generally going to add in some khinkali to go with our cheese-filled pastry. Plus, some pork skewers and the megruli karsho stew. OK fine, there are quite a few non-negotiables in our order.
We all know that being a great in-person restaurant does not mean that restaurant will also be great at delivery. But luckily, Gramercy Tavern manages to nail both. And if you’re going to be ordering from this NYC institution that makes delivering oysters rockefeller look easy, then you might as well go all out - get a smoked roasted chicken, crispy duck fat potatoes, and hazelnut gelato with cookie dough and marshmallow swirl.
A piping hot bowl of pho from Hanoi House has close to the same relaxation effect as 15 minutes in a steam room, which must be why we can’t stop ordering their classic pho with all the proteins: filet mignon, brisket, tendon, and bone marrow. Throw in the papaya and pig ear salad and some spring rolls to really do the whole thing right.
If NYC restaurants received medals for their cumulative pizza and burger scores, Emily would be at the top of the podium. They serve the same crunchy, thick, molten Detroit-style pizzas as Emmy Squared, as well as a dry-aged double-stack burger that oozes sauce and melted cheese out of a soft pretzel bun. Order both, and be grateful how few steps you need to take before you’re horizontal on your couch.
Despite the brick-and-mortar location being multiple types of cool - one of the city’s best date night spots, previously an antique store, and has a 200-year-old wine cellar that Edgar Allen Poe apparently used to hang out in - eating Il Buco at home still makes sense. You can recreate date night with a charcuterie spread, prosecco, and pasta sauce better than you can probably make yourself.
This NoMad restaurant doubles as a florist, so expect a few edible flowers in your food. For takeout and delivery they’re doing their four-course prix fixe dinner for $75 per person. The menu changes weekly, but expect options like Brandade with dandelion greens, tagliatelle with sweet peppers, and having to make the decision between tiramisu and chocolate semifreddo for dessert. Cocktails, wine and flower bouquets are all available to add on.

Locanda Verde is not about reinventing the wheel, which in this case is a good thing. The sheep’s milk ricotta they’ve been serving for years has a spot on the delivery menu, as do the lamb meatballs. Don’t skip the pasta either - we’re all about the tortelli mantovani, but the grandmother’s ravioli is a close second.

Loring Place is reliable, especially when you’re working with dietary restrictions, and especially when those restrictions are different for everyone ordering. Whether you’re looking to eat vegetables or pizza and pasta, or a piece of fish, or something off the kids menu, you can order essentially anything at Loring Place with confidence.
In addition to chaats and curries, Paisley delivers tons of options like kathi rolls, biryanis, large format dishes like lamb chops and Aggari lobster, and more.
When you’re tired of the same tuna sandwich you make twice a week, hit up Patacon Pisao for a patacón maracucho. Instead of bread, this Venezuelan dish uses two twice-fried and smashed unripened plantains to contain fillings like a burger, BLT, or the makings of a cubano.
Shuko is home to our favorite omakase experience in NYC. Ordering takeout means you won’t get to watch your sushi be made or have it directly handed to you, but still, the rolls, sushi sets, sashimi, and sake taste pretty good when you’re sitting on your couch.

It’s very simple: If you want tacos al pastor, order from Taco Mix. And because you’re not going to order just one taco, you should also get a gringa taco (on a flour tortilla), a tostada, and anything on the menu involving seafood.
This casual West African spot in Harlem serves choose-your-own-adventure grain bowls plus a few suggested combos. We like anything with fonio or the garlic lime chicken - always with a kelwele.
The Dutch’s versions of American classics are all there on the delivery menu: pork ribs with pomegranate, lime leaf, and peanuts; scallion chipotle cornbread; shrimp with heirloom beans and blood orange; and more.

This Upper West Side tiki bar delivers all kinds of cocktails (frozen, hot toddy, punch, large format), plus on-theme sandwiches and more. That “more” includes the upside-down pineapple chicken: a house-baked pineapple upside-down cake with buttermilk fried chicken, shaved spam, grilled pineapple, and tiki sauce.
There’s always been something magic about Union Square Cafe in person, and their excellent delivery keeps a lot of that intact. The menu of pastas (we like the strozzapreti bolognese), the signature burger, and full meal “packages” of favorite dishes will make a night at home feel a bit more special - especially if you order some of their rosemary bar nuts for pre-dinner drinks.

Vinateria serves cocktails and classic Italian dishes like veal meatballs and polenta, rosemary pappardelle with lamb ragu, and lots of seafood options. And, true to its name, it’s got a pretty great wine list filled with small producers.
This new delivery-only pizza spot in Greenwich Village specializes in mostly vegetarian pan pies, like the Spanakopita with spinach, feta, pickled jalapenos, and mushrooms, or the Ham & Cheese with mozzarella, parmesan, arugula, and quince. Plus, you can get any of the pizzas made gluten-free.
