If a glass of gamay and inventive takes on classic pastas sound like your idea of a great night, then Collina is the spot for you. This cozy Nob Hill Italian spot is the more casual venture from the team over at Seven Hills and prepares a simple but well-executed pasta-forward menu that's perfect for a date night or a solo adventure. The interior is slightly elegant, with dark green walls, marble countertops, and a glass chandelier. Deciding what to order will be super simple—there are only a few pasta dishes, antipasti, and entrees on the menu every night. We like the pastas like the 14-layer lasagnette for its crispiness and the buttery raviolo al uovo that holds its own against the platonic ideal at Cotogna for a fraction of the price. But skip out on the entrees, like the almost flavorless scallops, for the best bet at simple date night success.
